Bus passengers in Hull can now buy two discounted travel card products, that allow unlimited travel on both Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses in the city, through their smartphones.

A local campaign from the Hull Bus Alliance will raise awareness of the products on the theme of ‘Your Ticket, Your Choice’ and explain how customers can buy the Hull Card or KAT Card whichever way suits them – whether on board or through the operators’ apps.

The Hull Card Day and Hull Card Week tickets allow unlimited travel in and around the city for either £5.80 a day or £21.80 a week, while the KAT Card, available for those under the age of 20, offers the same benefits and is priced at just £15.80 per week.

“There are no limits when it comes to buying the Hull Card or KAT Card, just options,” said Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council.

“Working together through the Hull Bus Alliance, the council, Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses have now made it easier and even more convenient to make more sustainable travel choices.”

To buy a travel card digitally, all you need to do is search ‘Stagecoach Bus’ or ‘East Yorkshire Bus’ on Google Play or the Apple AppStore, download and sign-in and you’ll notice that the Hull Bus Alliance travel cards can be purchased.

Buy the ticket, as normal, and show it to the driver when you go on a bus.

Ben Gilligan, managing director of East Yorkshire Buses, said: “Many of our customers now use our app-based digital tickets and we are pleased to extend this to the Hull Card products which allow customers a great range of travelling choices across the whole of the city on the two bus operators that deliver services. This will make purchasing tickets far easier for everyone.”

Matt Cranwell, managing director at Stagecoach East Midlands, added: “We're excited to be part of this next step in making travel in and around Hull, even easier for our customers. The Hull Bus Alliance tickets, allowing customers to travel anywhere across the routes offered by Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire buses, offers great opportunity for travel, entertainment, and more cost-effective methods of commuting. Now the tickets are also available on the app, it's easier to plan your travel, and store your tickets. We're excited to be able to offer these methods of travel alongside our range of tickets which are solely for our routes.”
